With the dark nights of autumn, winter and even early spring it's important to remember to be seen when out running. We made a series of videos to highlight the differences between the visibility of a runner without any high-viz clothing and one with, starting with just a minimum amount of reflective gear. The runners ran from a distance of just over 90 feet away, which is an average stopping distance for a car traveling at 30 mph. The results speak for themselves...the runner without high-viz clothing was only visible from a distance of 20 feet.

The high-viz in video 1 allowed the runner to be seen from 90 feet away and cost under £5. In video 2 we added some more high-viz to see how this improves the visibility and again the difference is clear in video 3 with both runners kitted out with lights and high-viz.

Be safe, wear high-viz. There are no excuses.
