Morrisons have been supporting Leighton Fun Runners with the organisation of their 5K and 10K races in addition to their litter-picking runs, known as Plogging. By providing water, cakes, bananas and prizes for the races and gloves, litter-pickers and treats for the Plogging runs, they are a valued partner of our on-going community activities.

What an absolute inspiration to us all! I'm sure Paul won't mind me saying but he's one of our oldest members and absolute stellar runner! 🌟
He takes part in all our club runs (trails, fartlek, pace groups) & most recently he blew us away with a mega run at the Watchless 5, he may have have taken the wooden spoon, but his time was fantastic and close to 7 minutes faster than predicted!! 😅😎
When the XC season is on Paul also joins in with that muddy fun! I hear there might be an ultra this year too?!

😎The total approximate mileage over those club runs is 4,780.34

Our first internal event since Covid struck over a year ago, today we ran the Watchless 5!

Each #runner guesses how long they would take to run 5 miles and, after submitting their time in advance, you race it without a watch. Each runner sets off at a different time according to their predicted completion time, aiming to finish at 11:00am. In theory, all runners should finish at more or less the same time. The winner is not the first runner to complete the course, rather the runner who completes the course closest to their predicted time, i.e. closest to 11:00am.

Each year LFR nominates a charity to raise money for.

Last year (March 2020 to February 2021) we raised money for the Milton Keynes Charity Hospital. It wasn't the easiest year for fund raising, especially in the absence of our 10k event, though most participants opted to donate their entry fee to the cause, the rest of the money was mainly raised through our members on our monthly cake nights. Huge kudos to you all!!
Today LFR member Michelle handed over a cheque for £4,265 👏👏 this money will go towards the cancer centre at MK University Hospital
