Our summer trail series continued this week with a glorious run at Ashridge. Thanks to our run leaders Caroline, Janet, Gavin and Dan and all our tail runners! Next week we will be hitting the Rushmere trails. Looks like it’s going to be a wet one…get ready for mud!
Chrissy took out the Fartlek Fun Folk on Wednesday; Improvers was cancelled due to the heat on Thursday; and Martin took out the boys for a Friday morning jolly!
parkrun day saw LFRs at Luton Wardown, Milton Keynes, Linford Wood, Houghton Hall, Tring, Penrose, Cirencester, Great Denham, Marston Vale and Rushmere. At home in Rushmere we had some fantastice results with five LFRs in the top 10 including Joe who also ran a fantastic new PB. Our very own Julie Sugars was the first lady home. We also had PBs from Karen, and David. Great running, all of you!
A group of LFR-LB Tri were on the LB Tri Club training this weekend. This would not normally get a mention as this was a tri club event, however…being LFR and the amazing club we are…we only went and won an award! For brining the fun to the weekend. The Coach said that all he could hear when we were around was giggling and laughter during each and every training session. How good are we! Also winning awards were LFRs Jonny, Gary and Tracy. LFRs on top!
The biggest event of the weekend was the long awaited Montane UTLD – the Lakeland 100 and Lakeland 50. That’s 100 miles and 50s We had a massive group of LFRs (and a couple of LB Tri friends) heading up this year to take part in the 50 and Ian and the Legend that is JK tackling the 100.
An absolutely brutal event which takes the runners through the night, through the day, up and down and around the Lake District through trails, rivers, and mountains.
JK was tackling his 5th Lakeland 100 and unfortunately he became very sick and had to drop out at 23 miles. Also dropping out was Ian later on and Helen during the 50. Still absolutely incredible efforts to make it as far as you did. We are all enormously proud of everything you’ve achieved and for making it so far. Well done!
A HUGE congratulations to Jez, Verity, Paul, the other Paul, Mark, Emma and Wes for getting through those tough 50 miles. Shout out to Emma for completing her 80th marathon (this counts!)
Also a shout out to all the supporters who made their way up north to cheer on the runners.
And finally…a huge well done to Karen who volunteers at event every year. Fuelling and helping the runners at all hours of the day. Karen is one of the best. Well done.
And that’s all for this week!
Happy Running LFR!
